This game is teeming with personality, but is full of bad design decisions. Let me make it perfectly clear, game is good, but I could not finish this demo version. You see, I’m hardcore gamer, so I naturaly put on hard mode and tried this game. Unfortunately, I soon figure out its flaws.

I expected something similar to contra. Old hardcore game. The issue with this game and why it fails to capture previous magic is quite simple:
1) Terrible controls. With no mouse aim 4 direction aiming feels restrictive. Especially in the game where reflexes and precision is required. You die from one hit and terrorists tend to spray battlefield with bullets. Game quickly devolves into exploiting since it is impossible to beat it “fair”.
2) Random characters. I mean seriously? Who thought it is a good idea to put a completely unique character at random in the game with one hit kills? Random characters completely mess me up and makes game feel like a chore. Like it is trying to actively screw with you. They could at least given us a roster if they wanted for random badasses approach.
3) One life system. It is bad. In the contra you could continue even if hit. It promoted high skill gameplay without pulling you out of action. Furthermore, it gave you a chance to react. In this game it is completely different. You have to exploit dumb AI since you cannot fight it. It does not feel fair nor entertaining.

Due to these following reasons I do believe that developers had failed to deliver. It is pity really, since I liked their presentation and I really want game which would capture contra’s magic back.
