Quite terrible game with interesting ideas which go nowhere

Game is very tedious. Capturing islands take ages and there are many islands. Production also is tied to an external ship which needs to be transported in real time to the frontlines. This game tries to be an RTS/FPS/RPG hybrid and does everything poorly.

Campaign

Its campaign is absolutely atrocious. Cringe voice acting, plot. Massively long cringy CGI cinematic which changes tone every scene and does absolutely nothing to introduce us into game. Also it is the main cinematic which launches when you launch the game. Just why? Campaign itself is bugged. Some tasks are impossible to complete like activating command center when it self destructs, but game just allows you to progress further. Others are so obtuse that I wonder if they can be completed at all. I need to locate firewalls to lower a gate. I go where it is indicated and nothing happens. I go around the base and I’m not sure if objective is updated or not. I get grenade launcher, vehicle doesn’t show up on a map nor in my production screen.

Balance

Game balance is also atrocious. Defensive turrets do not work most of the time. AA turrets are blind as bat until they start firing and shred your Mantis to pieces in seconds. Grounds turrets do not fire back most of the time. Infantry is pointless and only here for that one tutorial mission in first person. Mantas can’t fight against Walruses. The only possible way to fight is to send APCs to fight against other APCs and watch as they grind each other healthbars down with underpowered machine guns. It is as exciting as it sounds…

AI

AI is useless. It spends most of the time stuck and trying to find a path. Enemy AI is unresponsive and can do little more than to just shoot back slightly moving around. Forget about any challenge when facing computer opponent.

In Conclusion

What is left afterwards is just very tedious and boring game. It has great ideas, but entire gameplay needs to be reworked from grounds up. Campaign also needs to stop pretending that it is some high budget FPS. Instead of creating levels for first person shooter which was atrocious, developers could instead focused on more minimalistic game with less budget and time wasting cringe worthy assets and just focused on delivering fun primary game experience. Instead, gameplay is extremely slow and tedious with not much variety. Just put the biggest armor and most powerful anti vehicle weapons and you had found the most optimal loadout.
